Victoria Hayes, who grew up in Toronto, Canada, was pre-med student at McMaster University when her passion for art and design eclipsed her interest in a career in medicine. She turned her studies to Central Saint Martin in London and Parsons School for Design in New York City, where she graduated as the school’s 2014 Women’s Wear Designer of the Year. Hayes now asserts signature looks with astute attention to detailing with hand-painted prints, colorful silks, and ornate embellishments — all centered around the dichotomy of present-day womanhood: beautiful and aggressive, romantic yet protective, tough but precious. Empowerment is always at the core of her designs. Since her fall 2016 debut, Hayes has become a favorite among celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Madonna, Taylor Swift, Andra Day, Ariana Grande, Alicia Keys, Cardi B, and others who have worn her designs. She has also been featured in publications including WWD, Vogue Italia, V Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle Magazine, Nylon, and Paper Magazine. She is the 2019 recipient of the Fashion Group International Rising Star Award for Womenswear. Her collection is designed and manufactured in New York City’s garment district.
